Boat Safety Regulations

DITCH YOUR HELMETS, PACKS, and Weapons IN AN EMERGENCY!

Embarkation

Each boat will carry approximately 18 soldiers plus watercraft crew on each trip.

Disembarkation

Wait until the boat is firmly grounded and the crew has given you the direction that it is safe to disembark before moving to the front of the boat.

When disembarking, move quickly but carefully down the ramp. Avoid the ramp cables. Make the last step a jump to be clear of the ramp.

Clear the bottom of the ramp and move at least 20 feet from the boat before stopping. (The most dangerous spot is at the bottom of the ramp as the boat can shift and injure you.)

Once clear of the ramp, Unit Commanders will take a head count and then move their squad beyond the boardwalk to clear the aerobatic box.

The water level may be deep – it could be thigh or chest deep. Watch those around you to be sure everyone disembarks safely. Help the man next to you. If you note someone fall, assist them to a location at least 20’ clear of the ramp immediately.
